Listen, you have no idea what you've unleashed; out of every musical I've ever enjoyed, I think I fell the deepest into Heathers... the other fan casts had wiggle room for interpretation but this? Does not. This is objective. I don't want to hear a single word.

I'm going to start with JD and Heather Chandler (stick with me, you'll see why). JD is so unquestionably Jaemin. Not only is "Mean to be Yours" Jaemin-coded (I posted about it before when I assigned the Dreamies musical love songs), but every main personality trait lines up: the possessiveness, the obsessive love, the repression to cope, the peer pressuring, I don't know a single other musical character that fits Jaemin more than Jason Dean. Also Jaemin's acting plays really well with the sharp emotional transitions in all of JD's solos. Plus, JD's quiet threatening presence is something Jaemin carries in spades.

Chandler? Chenle. The initial reason is because I had a mega crush on Chandler back when i was obsessed with the musical, and I have a mega crush on Chenle now BUT hear me out. No other Dreamie could pull off the sheer enthusiastic antagonism or the girlboss-ery of Chandler the way Chenle could. Chenle's stage presence as a vocalist and a dancer demands attention, with these grandiose belts and all this drama, going hand in hand with "Candy Store" and "Yo Girl".

Now....Veronica. I started with JD and Chandler because I have two options for Ronnie: Haechan and Renjun. Renjun is Act 1 Veronica through and through, but Haechan could deliver Act 2 Veronica like a fucking monster to the point where it would make me claw my eyes out. I think I like the dynamic of a NaHyuck Veronica/JD more because the way they split at the seams would be so much more tense, and it establishes more of JD's control (Jaemin would need so much MORE to overpower Haechan, and you would be able to feel the sheer threat a lot stronger than with someone more passive like Renjun).

On the other hand, I actually ship Veronica/Chandler a lot more than I do Veronica/JD HAHAHAHAHA so obviously if my Chandler is Chenle, I'm gonna want Veronica Renjun. Something about Chandler Chenle dragging Veronica Renjun through the hells of high school with this razor sharp grin and the entire school under his little thumb, only to step back during "Big Fun" and look at Veronica Renjun with an impressed smile, thinking, I did that. I made that. He's mine. is indescribably satisfying to me. Veronica Renjun would have more of a struggle with asserting his independence, so when he finally does, the challenge between Chandler Chenle and Veronica Renjun folding into homoerotic tension... do you see my vision?

Chandler Chenle slowly lifting Veronica Renjun's chin in "Beautiful" with this smirk and muttering, "You do have good bone structure..." FUAWK

Heather Duke and Jeather McNamara are Yangyang and Jeno respectively. Duke is a silent threat underneath it all, waiting to snatch up the space the second Chandler stumbles, and no other Heather (in the same age area) could hold a candle to Chenle as well as Yangyang. also Yangyang's smile is so teethy and snake-like, pinnacle of Duke.

Jeno is McNamara because he would slay "Lifeboat" so hard. He does so well embodying that desperation for not just approval from other people, but also this torn up inner conflict of "What I need to be" versus "What I can be". McNamara Jeno singing "the weakest must go" and dedicating himself to being the strongest, to be the best, because he couldn't live with himself if he wasn't: I think it fits perfectly.

Kurt and Ram are Hendery and Mark HAHAHAHAHAHA They have the best capabilities in the stupid asshole-y jock that are probably gay compartment. Are they asshole jocks? No. But are they stupid and gay? Yes! "Blue" with Kurt Hendery and Ram Mark would be hilarious, especially because "Blue" is like. A negative rizz song, and both Hendery and Mark have negative rizz.

Martha is Jisung because I love Martha and I love Jisung. Also Jisung's idol worship of Mark works well for whatever reason Martha likes Ram. Martha Jisung would also take the hit of abandonment from Veronica Haechan/Renjun the hardest, considering how close he is with those two and how much he relies on them as friends/hyungs.

Rapid fire ensemble: Veronica Haechan/Renjun's mom and dad are Doyoung and Kun, Kurt Hendery and Ram Mark's dads are Johnny and Ten, Principal Gowan is Taeil, Ms. Fleming is Xiaojun, Big Bud Dean is Taeyong, and Coach Ripper is Yuta
