Unironically, this confession scene is one of my favourite scenes across everything I've ever written. It encapsulates everything I like writing (romcom, planetary symbolism, lots and lots of figurative language, etc.) in a style that represents me perfectly. Confessions are always trickier for me to write, because I struggle with strong bouts of emotion, but this one came so naturally to me, it made writing every word a delight.

Out of all the flashbacks in the fic, this one carries the most weight, and it was one of the few scenes I had in mind before I started writing. Despite being close to the middle of the fic, this scene draws together most of the symbols and repeated phrasing I use and makes them the most prominent; it's here, when paying attention to the rhetorical devices becomes easier and everything starts clicking together, just like things do for Chenle and Donghyuck.( Read more... )
